Ryzom : Good News! by Marjo
The news you were all waiting for is finally here. The new owner of Ryzom was revealed: we are happy to welcome Gameforge who will take on the saga that is Ryzom tonight at midnight (GMT+1).

As a result, the billing system will reopen shortly so that you can subscribe again or give someone a Ryzom account for Christmas. :) Free Trial account owners will be happy to hear that they will be able to convert into a paying account and move to the mainland.

We will provide you more information in the upcoming weeks as things settle down.

Merry Christmas to all and enjoy your stay on Atys!

Feel free to discuss in the thread we've opened on the forum.

Congratulations, I wish the previous endeavors all the best. Thank you for your absorbing realms and fantastic artwork and visions. I look forward to playing more in the future.

To the new owners, thank you for keeping something as unique and creative from being simply tossed out with the trash. God speed and good luck.

I think Marjo's post already addressed that, Kitt.

"As a result, the billing system will reopen shortly so that you can subscribe again or give someone a Ryzom account for Christmas. :)" That sentence, particularly the last seven words, indicate that subscriptions should be available by no later than Christmas day.

Although, as far as Ragz is concerned, I totally agree. It was rather silly to re-implement the cap on Trial accounts without having the account upgrading available. I know some will probably mention that they did it during the patch to avoid more downtime, but they don't need to patch, for it...they certainly didn't when they removed it, in the first place, and there was no form of rollbacks for anyone. Just a cap that reads your level and blocks further experience gain if it is equal to/greater than 21.

Free Trial Account

Its rather unfortunate that you instituted the Level Cap without allowing upgrades for the Trial Accounts.

Confusion

Posted by Marjo at Friday,22 December , 2006 at 15:50 UTC

This cap to the level 21 was supposed to be back in place in the same time as the reopening of the subscriptions and you would have been kept informed about it. However the change slipped in yesterday's patch instead and we sincerely want to apologise as it wasn't our intention to do such a change stealthy.

As we plan to reopen the billing system today though, we won't remove the cap.

Subscription Timeline?

I am still eagerly awaiting opening of subscription process.  Any further word?  I am completely unable to do anything constructive as EVERY skill is 45+.

Somthing official?

will we get the pleasure of something offical from the guys (and girls) from Gameforge.de. would be nice to have a proper hello from them.

Most of us knew of Miko from Nev, would be cool to meet the respective GF counterparts before the W/E :)

What about the CSRs?

I hope they get to stay. They're awesome.

All dressed up and no place to go

Who exactly is "Gameforge"? This can give us an idea as to the future of Ryzom's developement.  And why the game cap before subscriptions are open? Already level capped and stuck on noobie island, I am frustrated enough to look for an other game or resubscribe to my previous one.

How long ??

Yes I must agree i was disappointed to see im stuck on the island, as I only joined this online experience last week I didnt have much clue about the takeover. Anyway it will be worth the wait as I have thoroughly enjoyed the fun and experience with both game and players on Ryzom so will look back often to see the progress. Glad you have taken on Ryzom Gameforge as I believe it is a real gem of a game. Hope to see you all on line soon. PS hurry up with the accounts please I personally cant get enough of this game

I first heard of ryzom in an article stating that the players were going to buy the game and it would be free from then on.
Having been exposed to online gaming by my son, and being a lifelong scifi/fantasy addict I imediately began the download. Now I'm stuck on noob island and upgrades are $15 a month! WTF?
I live on disability and can't swing that on top of my other bills.
