Patch : Tomorrow is Patch Day by Marjo
The patch bringing us the Ring release comes tomorrow. The content restrictions will be waived and you will be able to enjoy the Ring in its complete state! As a result, the live shards will be closed from 11 am to 4 pm (GMT+2, Paris time) tomorrow, Tuesday the 3rd.
This patch also includes the following points:

  • Ticks on Leanon and Aniro will be resynchronised. After the patch tomorrow, you will be back in 2536 on Leanon and 2535 on Aniro. This glitch appeared after the maintenance of last week, where the shards reopened with a wrong tick bringing you back in 2525. As a result, the number of days of your guilds existence were adversely affected. With the resynchronisation, this will be fixed. For the corrected tick, we will consider that the last (IRL) week existed on Atys.

  • A new international shard will open with the Ring release. Please welcome "Cho" tomorrow! Its support language will be English and it will be bound to the English speaking community's forums.

Regarding the Episode 2 on this shard, we will consider that each Faction won the battles on the lands where they are stronger, meaning:
      • A Kami temple will be built near Zora and Pyr
      • A Karavan temple will be built near Yrkanis and Fairhaven
The NPCs porting to the Almati Wood and giving citizenship and allegiance will be present.

EDIT (10.03): We won't open Cho. A few issues regarding the game experience of players on Cho made us decide to postpone its opening for a few days. Moreover, opening a new shard doesn't mean that we will merge all the shards together. This is not our intention. The new shard was meant to help us welcome new players.

Interesting

Very interesting news regarding a new server. However, the name "Cho" seems a bit mismatched for it compared to the other shards.

Nice match, in fact.

...or ist it? There have been several matisian rulers by the name of Aniro, Leanon was a fyrosian regent, and Arispotle an emperor of the Fyros people.

To Add

What I ment by this was that the other shards seem to have eligant names, where as the new server has a one sylable flat name. Cho.

The Way Towards Enlightenment

Posted by khyle at Wednesday,04 October , 2006 at 13:40 UTC

Actually by placing "Cho" as a single word at the end of your post, you have just demonstrated the power of a single syllable. One syllable, one sentence, an explosion of a sound in one moment, a soft whisper in another...

One of these days, I will visit a Zoraï master and seek enlightenment meditating on the elegant, short simplicity of  one-syllable words.

"Cho". "Cho"! "Chooooooo". "Cho"?

Beauty, elegance and simplicity may mean different things to different people ;)

I sincerely thank you for opening my eyes.

Server status

Just a random note to poke the webmaster(s) to add the new server and the ATS while your at it on to the status feed.

Thankies!

Great Danger?

Posted by dentom at Monday,02 October , 2006 at 22:27 UTC

I really hope that the possibility of exchanging materials from server to server will be forbidden. Otherwise, many guilds would create new chars on the new server and conquer the outposts there... only to exchange the op-mats with their main chars on the old servers. To prevent the new server being misused as a "farming server" the possibility of item exchange in scenarios must be patched!

Is the "international" server really needed?

Posted by nbrsix at Tuesday,03 October , 2006 at 12:47 UTC

It seems to me that the English server has been the defacto "International" server since the game release 2 years ago.

I too am concerned about this new server being ravaged by strong, established guilds on the other servers.  Although this may be the plan to have the strong guilds from the existing 3 servers compete for the resources on the International server.

To have characters from the existing servers meet and interact on a single server could fuse the communities.

5 hour maintenance?

Posted by mcrimson at Tuesday,03 October , 2006 at 12:54 UTC

Hello,

I tried twice to play Ryzom and each time the servers were down. That is really annoying especially because we have a national holiday in Germany and I was looking forward to give SoR a try...
And 5 hours is a very long down time - guess this was my last try to play.

Well the Ring expantion is the first of its kind. These things can take time and sometimes problems occur.

I can assure you this isn't normal as I've been playing for the best part of two years. Hopefully things will sort themselves out once Nevrax fix some teething troubles.

At least you don't have to que to get in the servers for hours on end when they're up like you do on certain other games...
